Since 1947, the Association of Vermont Credit Unions (AVCU) has proudly supported and advanced the credit union movement across the Green Mountain State. As a non-profit trade association, AVCU provides Vermont’s credit unions with essential services, advocacy, and resources to help them thrive and better serve their members.
Today, two-thirds of all Vermonters are member-owners of a credit union—proof of the strength and trust in our cooperative model. Vermont credit unions are not-for-profit financial institutions owned and governed by their members. Profits are returned directly to members through lower loan rates, higher savings yields, and reduced fees.
Each credit union is guided by a democratically elected, volunteer board of directors—fellow members who ensure that decisions are made in the best interest of the community.
At AVCU, we’re committed to promoting the values of cooperation, financial empowerment, and community service that define the credit union difference.
